NOAA Collects Tons of Marine Debris from Northwestern Hawaiian Islands
A team of 17 scientists collected nearly 50 metric tons of marine debris, which threatens monk seals, sea turtles and other marine life in the coral reef ecosystem, in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI). Japan Tsunami Debris ‘Dock’ in Oregon Set for Dismantling
A derelict 165 ton dock that broke away during the tsunami and floated all the way from Japan to the coast of Oregon will be dismantled starting on July 31st. The 66′ long, 19′ wide, 7′ tall dock washed ashore early the morning of June 5, 2012 and is believed to weigh 130-165 tons. Continue reading
